Pumpkin carving is a tradition in many homes for Halloween. Families gather around the dining table and carve spooky jack-o-lantern faces out of these large orange gourds. Though this tradition will never be replaced by alternate forms of decorating (tradition is tradition!), there are other ways to decorate your pumpkin if you try to try something new, are strapped for time, or just want less of a mess!
In today’s blog post, we’re going to share with you alternate ways to decorate your pumpkin other than the traditional form of pumpkin carving. Keep reading for ideas!

Mr. Potato Head parts aren’t just for plastic potatoes! They also make great faces for your pumpkin! To easily insert the pieces into the pumpkin, score/puncture the hard exterior of the pumpkin with a sharp end of a pencil of where you want to place the pieces before you put the part in!

Print cutouts of your favorite faces and glue it onto your pumpkin! There are also stickers available at the store for an even quicker project!
Paint is one of the most flexible alternatives! Paint colors are endless and you can create any pattern you want–from small intricate designs to spooky jack-o-lantern faces. Not to mention, there are many finishes for paint: metallic, matte, and glitter (just to name a few). For outdoor pumpkins, choose a paint that is not water soluble so your design doesn’t wash off in the rain, or spray on a glossy coat when you’re done!
