Happy (Early) Thanksgiving!

It may be a day early, but we would like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!

Though Thanksgiving is almost always about the turkey and the feast, we can’t forget the reason why we celebrate Thanksgiving in the first place. Thanksgiving originated from a mix of Native and European traditions and evolved to the way it is today. Festivals were held in Europe to celebrate a good harvest season and to thank everyone for all the hard work they put in to make it all possible. When the Europeans made their way over to America in the 1600s, they also brought along their tradition of celebration and shared it with the Native Indians.

Now, why do we eat turkey for Thanksgiving? That question remains uncertain. Many believe that turkey was served in the first Thanksgiving feast, but there has been no evidence to prove (or disprove) it.  Either way, we all know turkey is a can’t miss (tasty) part of modern Thanksgiving tradition that we will keep!

This Thanksgiving, don’t forget to count your blessings and give thanks to all the people in your life. Thankful for your family and friends? Tell them! Thanksgiving is the perfect holiday to do so!

Share with us in the comments below what you’re thankful for this Thanksgiving!
